Safeguarding

All involved in the Benefice of Thornbury, Oldbury and Shepperdine work strive to create and maintain safe environments for all that promote well-being, prevent abuse, and create nurturing, caring conditions. We follow the House of Bishops’ guidance and policies and appoint Parish Safeguarding Officers (PSO).

The PSO for Thornbury is Chris Verey

Tel 01454446638

Email: vereychris7@gmail.com

The PSO for Oldbury & Shepperdine is Meg Adnams, who Chris Verey will shortly replace.

The PSO works closely with the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA), who can be contacted via https://www.gloucester.anglican.org/about-us/safeguarding where you will find a list of diocesan contacts. A list of local authorities and volunteer agencies who can help is posted in each church.

If you have cause to believe that a child or adult may have been or is at risk of being harmed, you should contact either the PSO or DSA. If you have reason to believe that a child is in imminent danger of harm, you must contact the police on 999. You should not speak to the police about an adult at risk unless with that adult's permission.

Please see attached further details for keeping our church family safe.
