St Paul’s Church is open to all visitors. If you would like a chat with our team or a quiet place for reflection please stop by. All are welcome.
Carol Singing
Join us in spreading some Christmas Cheer around St Mary’s Church Hall. All are welcome and refreshments will be served at the hall afterwards.
Midweek Communion (with prayers for MU)
Spoken service of Communion with the MU prayer included. All are welcome.
Christingle
Service welcome to all. Children will be offered a Christingle orange, lit during the service for a song by candlelight. Christmas carols and children's hymns for the season will be sung. Simple prayers and a jolly service to mark the season.

Lessons and Carols
Traditional candle lit service of Lessons and Carols (Not normally all 9!) some from the bible and some poems interspersed with carols and music by our church choir. Service finishes with with mince pies and mulled wine.
Crib Service
Family friendly service. Children are welcomed to join in and act out the Christmas story. Rehearsal in the morning (11am) for those that can make it, where parts and costumes are handed out. Very welcome to join in even if it is the afternoon only. There is room in the stable for unicorns and dinosaurs too! Traditional carols and fun for all the family.
Rehearsal is at 11am!

Service of Ashing
Ash Wednesday, the ashes used on Ash Wednesday are obtained by burning the palms of the previous year (now the palm crosses).

Remembrance Day Service
Civic Service with representation from lots of our local services including RBL, local Scouts and Guides, Cadet services and others. Minute of silence timed as closely as possible with the National Silence at 11:00am.
Bereavement Service
This annual service offers a chance to remember those we have loved and lost and is open to all who are grieving, no matter how recent or long ago the bereavement. Prayers, hymns and space to reflect, followed by refreshments.

Harvest Refresh!
A full service at St Mary’s Hall in Thornbury. Everyone is welcome to join and support our Eco Champions.
St Arilda’s Fete
Starting at 2pm everyone is welcome. Teas, Grand Raffle and side shows. Any donations of bottles or books would be gratefully received.
Harvest Lunch
Join us in celebrating the Harvest season with our community! Everyone is welcome to attend at St. Mary's Church Hall. If you'd like to participate, please sign up at any of our churches. Additionally, if you're inspired to create an apple-themed dish, we would love to hear from you. Everyone will be thrilled to taste and enjoy all the delicious creations!

Heritage Open Day
Heritage Open Day is happening at St Mary's Church, Castle Street, Thornbury on Saturday 13th September 2025.
This is the only day during the year St Mary's Church opens the tower to the public. Come and climb the 113 steps to brave the heights and surround yourself in the beautiful views from the top. Please call the office to book a place on a tour. 01454 281900.
(Tours run 13:30 - 16:30. Only ages 8 and above can visit the tower. Sorry there is no disabled access to the tower).

The walk will begin at St Arilda’s Church and will follow Rectory Lane to St Arilda’s Cottage at Kington. It is about a 1 mile walk. All are welcome to join.
